Orange, white, magenta, purple, brown, pale-lavender, two distinct shades of yellow, and super-rare black comprise the nine different colors of stripes that cover the crystal clear base glass of this exceptionally large and exotic Joseph's coat of many colors. A window to the interior, third picture, shows a latticinio web of alternating orange and yellow that adds to the inimitability of this already exceptionally singular marble.
Both of the pontil marks are unfinished and sparkling clean. The bright colors, remarkably clear base glass, and the unfinished pontil marks help to date the production to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, circa 1880-1910. CONDITION: MINT 9.5 The surface has the original wet shiny look of a brand new marble. Under a bright light and 20x jewelers loupe, I can see some very tiny, microscopic, pinpoints that are far too small to call pinpricks, and are clearly as made. Joseph Coats of this size are extremely rare and in this condition are almost unheard of. You may click here to view the grading system I use. | |||||
