Rumor has it that these red/white/and blue ribbon marbles were made in Germany and shipped to the United States as a tribute to our first Centennial anniversary. There were many marbles made at this time with this color scheme, but these single ribbon examples closely resemble the American flag. One of the pontail marks is ground and the other a melted pig-tail which dates it to the pre 1880 period which is in keeping with the tale. There aren't too many of these around in any condition.
CONDITION: NEAR MINT 8.5 There is not a lot of heavy wear, but there are all over pinpricks and pocket wear, which does not inhibit the viewing of the marble's interior. You may click here to view the grading system I use. | |||||
