Sea-green and opaque white swirl on the surface of a vasoline-green base glass that is, as you can tell from the sixth picture, highly ultra-violet light reactive. The UV reaction is caused from the addition of uranium oxide to the glass mixture--which turns from yellow to green as the amount of uranium oxide is increased. These can be dated to prior to 1941 when the substanced was banned from commercial use because of its importance to the Manhatten Project--the development of the Atom Bomb during WWII.
As with most of the older marbles, these are getting more and more scarce, especially in this wonderful like-new condition. CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.8 The surface is wet and shiny with no signs of play or wear of any kind. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 15.27mm or 0.602" at the equator. | |||||
