Here is one of the most popular of the Akro Agate collectable marbles: The SPARKLER. The base glass is crystal clear with veins of almost every color available from the Akro Palate, including the very rare powder blue, lilac, and what surely looks to me like oxblood--best seen in the sixth image.
This is one of Akro Agates very early efforts manufactured sometime before the spring of 1922 when the so-called "Freeze" improvement, a process that tradition tells us eliminated the little eyelash-like marks visible at the seams, was introduced. CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.8 Pristine, wet mint surface without even the slightest hint of wear of any kind. All I can find is a tiny melted dimple that is almost visible in the third picture--if you look really hard. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 16.3mm or 0.64" at the equator. | |||||
