23/32" Antique German Handmade YELLOW CLEARIE with MICA Swirl

Item# GM1561
Next to red, yellow is the rarest of all the old German hand made marbles. This one is a true yellow, not the pale amber so commonly referred to as yellow. There is a generous amount of mica spread around beneath the entire surface to enhance the brilliance of this beauty. One of the pontail marks is a melted pig-tail and the other is partially ground, but not faceted as seen in the older examples of the type, so my guess is the marble was made during the late nineteenth or early twentieth centuries, circa 1880-1910. Also, the marble is a little wider than it is tall, measuring 23/32" at he equator and a fat 11/16 from pole (pontail mark) to pole.
CONDITION: NEAR MINT(+) 8.8 Nice shiny surface with just the slightest whisper of microscopic wear. There are a couple of pinpricks but they seem to be of factory origin. Also, there is a fingernail hairline at one pole that is easily seen at the bottom of the second and tops of the fourth and fifth pictures.

Size 18.27mm or 0.719" at the equator, slightly less at the poles.
