Red is one of the more popular of the type I banded lutz marbles and rarely seen available, especially in this large, 25/32"(+) size, and this wonderful mint condition. Both pontail marks are unfinished, indicating a manufactoring date of sometime between approximately 1880 and 1910.
CONDITION: MINT 9.6 Amazingly shiny wet looking surface with no sign of play or wear at all. Using a bright light and lens, I can see some clearly as-made pinpoints and a scratch-like line with melted edges--look very closely at the fourth pictue. Also, look at the pontail marks shown in the first and second picture and note the lack of any dirt or even dust. I've found that these pontail marks are impossible to clean to this degree. All this goes to show that the marble has been kept in a protected environment for over 100 years. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 20.14mm or 0.793" at the equator. | |||||
