A rather unusual pale "Irish" green and the famous Akro Agate "eggyolk" yellow follow each other around a crystal clear base glass with the defining white wispy strands exemplifying everything that makes the POPEYE corkscrew what it is. Present at the poles, albeit faintly, are the little eyelash-like marks that indicate the marble was manufactured before the so-called "Freeze" improvement which was implimented in the spring of 1922 to remove these marks. Any marble approaching the 100 year old mark still in this wonderful mint condition is becomming more and more scarce and therefore more highly regarded.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7 Pristine wet shiny surface with absolutely no sign of play or wear of any kind what-so-ever. All I can find with a bright light and lens are two clearly as-made tiny melted dimples that are visible at the left edge of the fifth picture. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 16.44mm or 0.647" at the equator. | |||||
