These are the colors and pattern I envision of the coat of many colors that was given to Joseph, the son of Jacob, in the Old Testament story from the Bible. The workmanship of the artisan who made this beautiful example is near perfect, and the size, at a full 1-1/4" is almost impossible to find, especially in this wonderful completely unused condition. The unfinished Pontail marks, the brilliant colors, and exceptionally clear base glass all help to date the manufacture to sometime during the late Victorian period, circa 1880-1910. This extraordinay marble has been given remarkable care for well over 100 years.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7 The surface is wet and shiny as you would expect from a mint marble. There are a couple of very tiny, almost microscopic, as-mades that are visible in the enlarged fifthe and sixth images. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 31.69mm or 1.248" at the equator. | |||||
