Here is one of the most sought after marbles in all the marble collecting community: with black aventurine and yellow ribbons on a robin's egg blue base glass, the Peltier BLUE GALAXIE.
Actual size is just a hair less than 11/16" CONDITION: MINT(-) 9.0 The surface has the nice shiny look of a mint marble with no evidence of actual wear, e.g. scratches, hits, or bruises; however, in addition to the clearly as-made blow hole visible in the fourth and fifth images, close inspection with a bright light and lens reveals a few scattered pinpricks with melted edges indicating the marble was still hot during their occurence. These are common manifestations, especially with Peltier marbles, when using heavy applications of aventurine--caused by the different heating and cooling rates between the glass and the aventurine particles, the same phenomenon that caused the blow hole. If you left click the first picture, you can see a greatly enlarged image with a greater detail view. Please excuse the fine white threads, they are from my cleaning rag and not scratches. REMEMBER: Your complete satisfaction is guaranteed. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 17.23mm or 0.678" at the equator. NOTE: 11/16=0.685 | |||||
