There is a bit of dissimulation involved in this old Akro Agate corkscrew: under normal lighting or against a dark background it appears to be a dark amber marble with a yellow cork--but when shown under a bright light, it is evident that the base glass is a bubble-filled transparent purple with an eggyolk corkscrew around the surface.
close inspection will also show that the ends of the corkscrew has the tiny eyelash-like markings known to collectors as the "pre-Freeze" marks indicating a manufacture date prior to the spring of 1922. CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7 The surface is wet and shiny with no sign of wear at all. The only anomoly that I can find is a tiny grain of debris embedded in the surface as shown in the second and third pictures. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 15.93mm or 0.626" at the equator. | |||||
