1-23/32" Antique German Handmade DIVIDED RIBBON CORE Swirl

Item# GM2053
The surface has four sets of three lattice ribbons, two yellow and two white, that surround a double set of two ribbons at the core. These are white on one side with transparent red and blue on two of the ribbons and yellow, green, and pink on the other two. The core glass is clear but a little darker than most and there is an abnormally high count of tiny floating bubbles.
One of the pontail marks is so exquisitely ground that it is difficult to find and the other is a tiny pig-tail melted to near oblivion.
From the design, the colors, and the pontail marks, I would estimate a manufacture date to pre-Victorian, circa 1850-1870--The earliest of glass handmade marbles.
CONDITION: NEAR MINT(+) 8.7 The surface has a nice wet shine to it with very little evidence of play or wear. There is a crescent moon popout, about 5:00 o'clock in the fourth picture; as well as, a perfectly round indention with rounded melted edges--too large to be called a dimple, but essencially the same thing There may have been some attempt at rubbing out the edges on this spot.

Size 43.81mm or 1.724" at the equator.
