M.F. Christensen & Sons: MINT(+) NAVARRE 3/4-" HAND-GATHERED HORIZONTAL BRICK

Item# GM2258
I have only seen a few HORIZONTAL slags over the years, and this is the first HORIZONTAL BRICK I have ever seen anywhere period, and the view in the third image pretty much precludes any argument about what it is. Another aspect of that third image is that it appears to be where the direction of the spin of the marble was reversed, which would explain the reversed "9" at the sixth picture which is the opposite end of the marble from the first.
I feel I must pass this little tid-bit along: The person from whom I purchased this marble lives in Navarre Ohio and he bought it about 30 years ago from an estate sale in Navarre Ohio. Combine this information with the pictures and I sincerely believe that this is indeed a Navarre product.
From 1897 until 1901 the Navarre Glass Marble and Specialty Co. manufactured transitional Slag marbles. In 1903, the M.F. Christensen Company hired Harry Heinzelman, the former Navarre Glass Master to work for them. So, everything I can gather about this marble causes me to assert that the marble is, at the very least, a Navarre style marble.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7 The surface is wet and shiny with no sign of play or wear at all. If there is an anomaly it would be a little squiggle that is shown in the first and fifth picture and a sort of dent-like depression you can see at the bottom of the first. This is a SUPER-RARE marble in SUPER-NICE condition. Nearly perfectly qualified as a MUSEUM piece, even the Smithsonian.

Size 18.97mm or 0.746" at the equator.
