Antique German Handmade: WET MINT 37/64" CAGED CLAMBROTH

Item# GM2433
Seventeen pink stripes form a cage around the clambroth-white base glass. Other than aesthetics, I can't understand the purpose of making these soft glass marbles for kids' play; they don't hold up to the abuse of most marble games. This one, however, appears to have never been touched. Even the unfinished pontail marks are as clean as when they left the factory. We can estimate a manufacture date to the late German handmade marble producing period, circa 1870-1910. To find a mint Clambroth of this vintage is nearly incredible.
CONDITION: WET MINT 9.8 or better. The surface is PRISTINE! I was going to say, "I don't know if I've ever seen a Clambroth in better condition." That would be a false statement. I do know I have never seen a Clambroth in better condition. The artisan who made this marble must have taken it home and stored it in a good safe place, and forgot about it. These soft-glass Clambroths are notorious for their fragility.
